About a year ago I recently purchased a 2000 Buick Regal GSE. It is the second 2000 Regal I currently own, the other is the naturally aspirated 3800. I bought the second one because it is has the supercharged 3800, and I have wanted one from the first time I saw it. I've been a Buick man for years and have worked as a tech at a Buick Dealership for many of them.
To start the plan I need to figure out what I want to do with it. I know I want to make changes to the engine, suspension, and brakes. What I want to do with it is make it a "sleeper". Nobody expects to see grandpa's Buick blowing their doors off. The car stock puts 240hp to the ground. I want to pump that up to 700hp. To do that I need to swap the heads, lifters, cam and exhaust. I will also need to port and tune the supercharger and add a inter-cooler. I'll also need to reprogram the ECM.
Thats enough for now. I have to put more thought into the suspension and brake also. Stay tuned I will be back with more on the build planning and hopefully details as work begins.
The first car I learned how to drive on was my father's old 1985 Buick Skyhawk station wagon. That was a life time ago. I like its four square headlights and long body. A Buick "sleeper", no one will see that coming!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see this assignment can be a temporary rest stop from the busy pace of IS101-3017 :-)
I miss my 74 Honda Civic.
ReplyDeleteI confess I am not quite informed enough to visualize all of your description. But its exciting to see your passion for that. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteWow you're very proficient in cars. So cool
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I didn't know what you were talking about, but Welcome to IS101! ^.^
ReplyDeleteI must say, this car talk is quite interesting. I drive an 86 Toyota which is the new version of the FRS and that is my baby so I can relate to the passion you have for cars there.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand much of this, but good luck to you in the following weeks of the semester!
ReplyDeleteNice, what color will you paint it? Will you keep original interior?
ReplyDeleteNice detail for your passion on this post!
ReplyDeleteI love all cars and that sounds like it is going to be quite the build! 700whp? careful driving after you get it there.
ReplyDeleteYou sure know a lot about a Buick! I'm more of a '40s-'70s general car fanatic haha.
ReplyDeleteSleepers are always fun, I love to see the look on other drivers faces, that look of "how's this car beating me?" what a good feeling.
ReplyDeleteI miss my 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass :(
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome, and like a lot of fun! I'm sure once you get around working towards each plan the outcome will be just as gratifying and rewarding.:)
ReplyDeleteI hope you will enjoy your new 2000 Buick Regal GSE car.
ReplyDeleteWow. A Buick man all your life. Those are some cool mods for this kind of car. I hope you get to accomplish it.
